The year 2018 was beyond rough.
The month of December is already over half over and I’m determined to make 2019 a better year. To do this, I’ve set myself goals I want to achieve throughout the year. Not just long term resolution style goals, but short term ones as well.
Just in case you’re inspired to make your own goals for 2019 you can check out my post of why most new years resolutions are doomed to fail, and figure out how to make them more attainable.
I’m really hopeful that by keeping short goals intertwined with the bigger ones, I can set myself little milestones to keep up the motivation and drive I have towards them.
First Goal- I want to make $100 a month blogging. Consecutively.
Yeah, that doesn’t sound like much to any accomplished blogger. Especially when there are people out there making hundreds of thousands of dollars a month blogging.
So far I’ve made close to $100 in 4 months worth of blogging. $20 from a paid post and the rest through Ads on this page. My monthly views for the first two months was under 2000 and by the end of month 4, I finally broke 10,000 views.
The more views= higher ad revenue.
Goal 2- I want to successfully pitch and land a sponsored post or promotion.
Like, no joke- I would love for some all inclusive resort to contact me and say I get a weekend free and discount codes to pass out to viewers in exchange for reviews and drumming up some conversation about their establishment.
Considering that my monthly views aren’t anything extravagant “yet,” I highly doubt this situation happening any time soon.
So until then I think I’d much rather try my hands at landing paid posts or free products from companies that I already love and support or would like to try.
I’m a dairy free, breastfeeding, cloth diapering, mother of 2, who loves to cook and find ways to save time and money. There’s plenty of products and companies out there that could be a great fit for me and I am going to find them.
Goal 3- I want to break 100,000 views a month.
I’m already 1/10th of the way there, and it took me 4 months to get here, so I think that by summer 2019, I should have this goal achieved.
Goal 4- I want to make $2,000 a month from blogging.
In my state, minimum wage is $12 per hour. A full time job is 40 hours a week, so roughly saying, I want to make my blogging so successful it turns into a full time monthly income. Of course, I would truly love to be making $10,000+ a month. But I’m making these yearly goals more realistic.
Goal 5- I want to get better at my social media skills and grow my followers.
I still have no idea how to use Twitter, it’s honestly the last one on my list to work with because I don’t get it at all. I know there are so many people out there I can reach if I tried though. It’s one of the biggest social media platforms out there right now, so it should be higher on my list, but this tired momma doesn’t have time to try to understand it. In the meantime I’m growing Pinterest, Instagram and Facebook.

Whoa you’re goals sound the same as mine! I vowed that 2019 would be the “year of the blog”. Like you I’m kind of niche and picky about what I eat/use so most of the brand deals other bloggers get aren’t something I’d be interested in. I’m sure there are some out there for me though!
The past is the past! Such inspirational goals, best of luck accomplishing them!
I started blogging in 2015 and the game changer for me was buying good courses and implementing the info. This year I invested in a blogging mastermind group and my main goal this year is to use my blog income to pa down debt.
Love that you start small with your goals!! Love all your blogging goals! I hope it all works out for you!!
Good luck kicking your goals!!!! I’m sure you will reach them as long as you keep working hard!!
These are all awesome goals and I know you will be able to accomplish them. You are already half way there.
2018 was difficult but I have a feeling 2019 will be so much better! Setting goals is the first step! I want the same for me!
You’ll totally get these goals this year! (OK, not a psychic, just saying you’ve outlined solid, smart goals.) To already have that kind of monthly view numbers has got to be really encouraging. Can’t wait to see how you crush this!
Not a psychic? Darn, I could be so much less stressed with one of those on my team lol. Thanks for the words of encouragement!
I’ve actually found that Twitter is the easiest social media platform to grow on! You just have to cruise through and use the right hashtags and engage frequently. The blogging community is SO supportive on Twitter!
Knowing what you want to achieve is the first step in achieving them! Not all social media channels translate to pageviews so you need to dig deep into your analytics. Maybe you can focus on your top referrer and start from there. Wish you all the best in 2019!!
My biggest referrers so far is Pinterest and Facebook, so those are where I’m starting 🙂 everywhere else is pretty much on auto-pilot lol
Smash those goals! You can do it!
Ahaha, thanks! I plan too!
These are awesome goals for the year and I wish you the best in getting reaching them! I really need to take a look at my page views.
Congrats on getting the higher page views! I want to start making a more consistent income from my blog this year, too. My husband and I are working on a few different ideas and writing down what we need to accomplish each month to make it happen. PS I don’t like twitter either. The only reason I even have a presence is because I have CoSchedule that posts automatically to it!
I am so sorry to hear that 2018 was so hard on you. I hope 2019 is much better, and it looks like you have some great goal!
