So we have a family elf. His name is Buddy, and this is his second year visiting us. My daughter has counted down the days since he left, waiting for his return.
He gets himself into some crazy hijinks and messes when he’s here.
Here’s a look at one week worth of his fun antics.
If you haven’t already seen last weeks hijinks, go check it out! It includes our elf’s arrival and a fun costume change! Weekly Elf Hijinks Week 1.
11/29/2018 Week 2 Day 1
Today Buddy is enjoying a snowball fight with the girls. Using mini marshmallows and my daughters dolls, I was able to create what looks like a fun snowball fight.
My husband added the two candy canes we had leftover from last week, although im not sure what purpose they hold because now it looks more like shuffleboard.
I also would like to point out that I did not think this day through, as I need to use the table for rolling out cookie dough and crafting up a few flour sack towels…. sooo…. not sure how this is going to work out..
11/30/2018 Week 2 Day 2
So we have these little figurines sitting on our fireplace mantle, and I’ll be honest, I have no idea what they are called. My brother placed them there and as you can see by the dust collecting on our Jobie dolls, we don’t move things around much up there.
The night before, our daughter got a little naughty with her sassy mouth (only way I know she’s related to me) and for that, we placed the elf next to the Grinch so they can talk about it. Can’t have our girl thinking it’s okay to be a sourpuss.
Might even get him to grow his heart two sizes if Buddy is as smooth of a talker as I think he is.
12/01/2018 Week 2 Day 3
Buddy noticed we didn’t have an advent calendar so he brought us one from Santa’s shop!
12/02/2018 Week 2 Day 4
Buddy just sat on the dresser all day since we were out of town all day. Drive 130miles north for a few hours of family time with the nieces in celebration of my fathers 55th birthday. So buddy sat home with little thought as to where he was placed in the house.
12/03/2018 Week 2 Day 5
Buddy decided to hang out on the chandelier chain. It gives a great view of the whole dining room and kitchen this way.
12/04/2018 Week 2 Day 6
He didn’t move!
First time in Buddy history, the guy didn’t move positions while we slept! AHHH!
My daughter woke up, got dressed and went out to see where Buddy was and came back. “Mom, Buddy didn’t move last night.” Instant facepalm. I fell asleep while putting down the baby.
I spent the entire rest of the day trying to figure out what to do to explain himself in a note, and I came up with NOTHING. Not a single valid sounding excuse. “Santa called me and said there was a storm and not to come home tonight, so I decided to just stay here.” “The dogs kept barking every time I tried to move, so I stayed here.” “I thought I heard someone awake so I was afraid to move.” I came up with a bunch of ideas towards excuses. None of them sounded legit though.
So I moved him, at night while my daughter was sleeping, and I didn’t give any excuse note. And something surprising happened- She DID NOT notice! She didn’t care that he didn’t have some valid excuse.
I spent the whole day in a mom panic for nothing.
12/05/2018 Week 2 Day 7
Running low on ideas for where to place him that’s both A) out of babies reach and B) not in the way. This ceiling fan hasn’t been used in weeks because of the weather being so cold, there’s no point. So Buddy is hanging out on a blade. He’s got a great grip.
